November Athlete of the Month: Simone

1. Where are you from and where do you go to college/what year?
Born in London England but raised in Canada since 5 years old. Attended Conestoga college for business and that was a solid 10 years ago lol 

2. What is your favorite exercise/movement in crossfit? Least favourite?
Favourite movement by far is a power clean/squat clean. Unfortunately I can’t squat much these days because i have a knee that does not want to cooperate with me lol but when I can I love all clean movements!! Least favourite is any kind of  gymnastic movement. I have no upper body strength it’s terrible. Pull ups and hand stand holds are not my friend 😦 

3. If you could follow only one instagram account, what would it be?
If I could only follow one Instagram account it would be the shaderoom because they post the most funniest things,  but also they tell the most juiciest celebrity gossip stories which is terrible but I love lol. 

4. What is your biggest strength you are bringing to CrossFit Division?
Biggest strength I bring to CrossFit would be passion. I don’t see me ever leaving this community. I’ll be here till I’m 60 lmao maybe even later God willing! But I’ve got this drive and passion to always do better, learn more and lift heavier. I don’t come because I have to, I come because I love it and want to be there.

5. What 3 words would your closest friends use to describe you?
Well I asked my best friend and she said loyal, honest and family oriented so I’ll take that! 

6. What is your favorite TV show?
Favourite tv show is fresh prince of bel air old school I know, but I have literally watched every single episode 500 plus times and laughed the exact same way every time. My Current favourite tv show is power! 

7. What’s the last thing you searched for on Google?
How to make a cardboard photo frame prop for my friends birthday party. 

8. What’s your favorite cheat food?
Always pizza all day everyday lol 

9. What superpower would you want to possess?
Precognition. I want to see things before they happen lol. 

10. What do you want to be when you grow up?
Well since I’m technically already grown up lol let’s just say the next step I want to do is hopefully retire early and travel the world. I still got quite a ways to go lol. However when I was younger I wanted to be a plastic surgeon this did not happen.  I own 2 businesses which is completely opposite of what I envisioned I would be but hey that’s okay. 

11. What do you do when you’re not crossfitting?
When I am not crossfitting I am busy running 2 companies and taking care of my 2 children and husband. In between that I find time to hang out with friends and family. I still try to maintain a fun social life, because I think that is important for that thing they call sanity lol . Can’t be all work and no play 🙂 

12. What motivates you to workout everyday?
I honestly just love CrossFit. Crossfit it self motivates me. I love coming to the classes and impressing my coaches daily 😉 I feel so good after a workout and just really love watching myself get better and stronger! And of course like most women when those off days come into play and I feel my body isn’t looking oh so tight that motivates me too lol. 

13. If you could program a WOD what would it be?
Well if I could program a wod I don’t know exactly what it would be but it would involve doing rowing, power cleans, wall balls and deadlifts. Anything barbell I’ll take in a wod. 

14. What is your biggest goal at Crossfit?
My biggest goal in CrossFit is to always lift heavier because I jus love that barbell , but more importantly it’s to get a pull up. Gymnastics will forever be the death of me LOL. Anyways it’s to work on all those gymnastic movements pull ups, hand stand holds etc. 

15. What does a typical day in your life look like?
Typical day in my life is craziness lol. I wake up I get my two kids dressed, fed and to school everyday by 830 am. Than I turn on my work phones and start dispatching all the delivery calls to my drivers. I do that from 9 am to 5pm Mon to Friday. On Monday’s and Wednesday’s I’m in the office to do invoicing and whatever else is necessary. While I dispatch I also get my husbands store ready for the day, I don’t physically work there, but I do all the behind the scenes work and make sure the store is ready to open for business. I make dinner,  I pick up the kids from school we do homework or reading whatever bonding is necessary lol I than rush to drop them to my moms house so that she can watch them while I come to my regular 630pm CrossFit class.  I pick them up after class, we do bedtime routine and we do it all over again till Saturday lol. Weekends are a little less hectic 🙂

*One Athlete on the bike, one athlete working away at the triplet, third athlete will be resting until the second athlete finishes the triplet- then switching- 
*The Bike will always be in constant movement
*Futher details and clarifications will be addressed in classes
