May 2019 CrossFit Division Athlete of the Month: Carrie and Geoff MacGillivary
What are your biggest strengths that you bring to CrossFit Division?
An inability to sit still when free time is available
Running
Making the 6 am coaches work since we lack skillz….lots and lots of skillz
Running
Helping to bump up the average age of athletes at CFD by 12-15 years
Running
Introducing two fun games to the 6 am class–
“Where in the world is Carrie this week?”
“On a scale of 1-10, how jetlagged is Carrie during today’s class?”
What are your favourite cheat foods?
Geoff – Chocolate. Like seriously addicted.
Carrie – Red Wine. (Does that officially count as a food?)
What do you do when you’re not cross-fitting?
Co-parent two very active teenage daughters which involves:
Schlepping them around to their various activities like hockey, running club, golf, etc, etc.
Running interference between them and the new boyfriends on the scene.
Policing their smartphone/Netflix obsession.
Traveling to places off the beaten path around the world and making awesome memories as a foursome.
Manage two demanding jobs in high tech which involves one of us traveling somewhere around the globe on a weekly basis.
Texting and sending goofy gifs (because it’s just so funny) to each other near constantly since we are so often apart due to work travel or completing kid priorities.
If you could program a WOD what would it be?
Two-part WOD:
1) for time:
1600m run + 5 squats
1600m run + 5 pushups
1600m run + 5 burpees
1600m run + 5 pullups
2) 5-15 minutes to work up to your best Corpse Pose (Savasana) 😉

How do you motivate each other?Perhaps “What Motivates You?”
Making fitness as an activity we can do together and help ensure we can enjoy a long, healthy life together.
Wanting to be able to travel to places off the beaten track and hike mountains deep into our 50s.
Keeping up with our children and being able to exercise with them in a meaningful way.
Learn and experience new activities while meeting new like-minded people.
Constantly be challenged – and CFD continues to challenge us EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.
